On February 24, 2025, Key West Police responded to a call about a possible storage unit break-in at Midgard Storage, 930 Catherine Street. However, it turned out to be a false report, allegedly made by someone trying to snitch on the suspects for drug-related activity. Upon arrival, officers found Joshua Bashore (37) and Oriana Molina Jimenez (26) inside the storage unit, which appeared to be their living space. While on scene, officers noticed suspected narcotics nearby and called in the Special Investigations Unit. A search warrant was obtained, leading to the discovery of illegal substances and drug paraphernalia. Bashore was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, destroying evidence, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Molina Jimenez was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
