"Baltimore City is moving forward with a program that will sell some vacant homes for just $1.

Wednesday morning, the Board of Estimates approved the program, but not everyone was on board.

City Council President Nick Mosby succeeded in getting the board to defer the item two weeks ago after detailing his concerns. But the spending board passed the new pricing structure in a four-to-one vote with Mosby as the lone "No."

More than 13,000 homes in Baltimore are vacant. The city owns close to 1,000 of them. Individual buyers and community land trusts are eligible to buy the city-owned vacant houses for $1. Small nonprofits can purchase the homes for $1,000. Developers and larger nonprofits would need to pay $3,000.

The hope is that area residents will buy the vacant homes or lots, fix them up and live in them. Mosby argued that without specific written protections, city residents won't be given priority in buying the properties, and they will be pushed out when neighborhoods improve.

"I did agree with a lot of the president's concerns about the problems that we're facing in terms of affordable housing and in some places, gentrifying of neighborhoods. An 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were killed and 28 others injured in a mass shooting at a Baltimore block party, officials said.

All 30 of the victims had gunshot wounds, Baltimore Police Acting Commissioner Richard Worley said in a Sunday afternoon news conference. Their ages range between 13 and 32 years old, Worley added.

The two people killed were identified by Baltimore police as 18-year-old Aaliyah Gonzales and 20-year-old Kylis Fagbemi.

Of those injured, 15 were younger than 18 years old, according to Sunday night news release from police.

Nine of those injured remained in nearby hospitals “in various conditions” Sunday afternoon, the commissioner added. There were “at least two” people who opened fire during the shooting, but authorities are investigating there may have been more, Worley said. Authorities have not shared information about a potential motive.

“All we know right now is that we had multiple (shooters) open fire on a large crowd of people who were out during the block party. We don’t know if they were targeted or if (the shooters) were just shooting indiscriminately down the street,” Worley said. Posted by Abdul

A car fleeing police collided with another car, struck a pedestrian and a building that collapsed onto the cars, video shows. 
 
The Maryland Attorney General's Office's Independent Investigations Division on Thursday released video from police body-worn and CitiWatch cameras that show what led to the Feb. 8 crash in east Baltimore. 
 
Investigators said police tried to stop a stolen car in the area of the 1800 block of East North Avenue. The car fled and struck another car at the intersection of North Wolfe Street and East Nort Avenue. That impact led the vehicles to hit a pedestrian, Alfred Fincher, 54, of Baltimore, before crashing into a vacant rowhome that collapsed. 
 
Fincher died at the scene, and the driver of the stolen car was taken into custody. 
 
The Independent Investigations Division continues to investigate the circumstances of the fatal crash. Posted by JR

Speaking with Piers Morgan, the 64-year-old admitted to "pushing the boundaries" in reference to allegations of inappropriate behaviour that brought his career to a halt in 2017.
Last year, the actor was found not guilty of all charges of sexual assault against four men between 2001 and 2013 after a trial in London, and in 2022 a US court dismissed a sexual assault lawsuit against him.
Spacey is currently involved in a civil trial over an allegation, which he denies, that he sexually assaulted a man in 2008.
Mr Spacey said his home in Baltimore, where he has lived since 2016, is being foreclosed and sold at auction because he cannot afford to pay the "many millions" he owes in legal bills.
The interview, broadcast on the Piers Morgan Uncensored YouTube channel, featured a direct discussion of how Mr Spacey views his past behaviour.
