Zookeepers at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park jumped into action when a dog entered a gorilla enclosure. The scary moment was caught on camera by guests visiting the park. The male shepherd ran around in distress as a gorilla began to chase it around the exhibit. Zookeepers were able to safely leash the dog and remove him from the area for evaluation. On Friday, January 26, 2024, at 7:57 p.m., Deputy Sarah Ernstes and K9 Mary Lu responded to the 16000 block of Carlton Lake Drive to assist in the search for a missing and endangered 11-year-old girl.

They quickly jumped into action, tracking the child to a neighbor's house, where they learned the residents had given her a ride to a nearby apartment complex in Wimauma.

Our units headed to that location, where K9 Mary Lu was able to alert our deputies to a locked bathroom door at a park in the area. Our deputies located the missing girl inside the locked bathroom and were able to successfully talk her into unlocking the door, where she was found safe and without injury.

"Our teamHCSO K9 Unit has once again proven its invaluable role in our community," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "With their exceptional skills, they successfully located and brought home a missing 11-year-old girl, reuniting her safely with her family. The stoat is a usually silent animal but can produce a range of sounds similar to those of the least weasel. Kits or baby Stoats produce a fine chirping noise. Adults trill excitedly before mating, and indicate submission through quiet trilling, whining, and squealing. When nervous, the stoat hisses and will intersperse this with sharp barks or shrieks and prolonged screeching when aggressive.
