A New York doll maker says it will be selling what it believes is the first transgender doll on the market.
 
The doll is based on Jazz Jennings, the teenage transgender subject of the TLC documentary series â€œI am Jazz.â€� It will make its debut at the New York Toy Fair next week and be available on the Tonner Doll Co.â€™s web site and in specialty stores in July.
 
A spokesman for the company said the 18-inch doll, which has a â€œgenderlessâ€� plastic mold typical of most dolls, is being tested for kids aged 8 years and older and is expected to retail for $89.99.

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. â€” Parents of children found bullying other minors could face jail time under a new law approved in a western New York community. The law went into effect Oct. 1 in the Niagara county city of North Tonawanda, just north of Buffalo.

Members of the North Tonawanda Common Council hope the new law will put a stop to bullying by holding parents accountable for their childrenâ€™s actions.

York was an enslaved Black explorer who was on the Lewis and Clark expedition. After the expedition ended in 1806, Clark refused to grant freedom to York, whose wife lived in Louisville, Kentucky. According to the Smithsonian Magazine, in 1809 Clark sent York to Louisville, not to be with his wife, but to instead be hired out to a farm owner notorious for physically abusing those he kept enslaved. York was granted freedom years later and reportedly died of cholera. Posted By Joe
