"A Muncie woman was arrested Wednesday after 
police said she sexually assaulted a 6-month-old 
girl, which left the baby with a sexually 
transmitted disease.  

Police said Ashley Stapert, 21, admitted she and 
her former boyfriend assaulted her friend’s 
daughter. According to the probable cause 
affidavit, Stapert told police she fondled and 
performed a sexual act on the baby.

"Any time children in our community are hurt or 
injured, especially a small baby, we feel like we 
have to be the voice for that victim, have to 
speak up because they can't speak," said Judi 
Calhoun, Delaware County Chief Deputy Prosecutor.

The probable cause stated the baby’s mother 
allowed Stapert and Stapert’s boyfriend at the 
time to stay with her because she believed they 
were homeless.  The mother said she knew the 
couple and allowed them to babysit her baby." - 59

"Columbus County authorities are investigating the 
death of a 10-year-old girl who hanged herself 
Monday night after repeatedly being bullied at 
school.

Samantha West said she found her daughter, Jasmine 
McClain, dead in her bedroom Monday night.

"I just lost it because she took her last breath 
in my arms," West said Wednesday. "She was a 
loving child. I just don't understand."

Chadbourn Police Chief Steven Shaw said her death 
was obviously suicide, and he was about to close 
the case when he started checking posts on 
Facebook and other social media about Jasmine and 
her death.

"Children started coming forward and making 
accusations that she was bullied – and bullied bad 
– in school," Shaw said.

Jasmine was picked on at Chadbourne Elementary 
School, West said, noting other children teased 
her about her clothes or her shoes. She left the

A baby-obsessed Bronx woman who stabbed an expectant mom to death claimed she killed her former pal in self-defense and cut the baby from her belly to save the newbornâ€™s life.

The accused killerâ€™s defense emerged on Saturday, along with bizarre details of her fascination with babies â€“ and grisly details of the savage murder.

Ashleigh Wade, 22, was sitting on the stoop of her building, her hands dripping with blood after the knife attack. She told cops she stabbed Angelikque Sutton â€œas many times as she could,â€� a police source said.

Inside Wadeâ€™s apartment and surrounded by a sea of red, Sutton was barely alive, police said. She had been stabbed repeatedly in her neck and body and had a deep gash across her stomach, police said.

The babyâ€™s placenta was found on the bathroom floor, officials said. And the bloody knife used in the killing was found nearby. Both mother and baby were rushed to Montefiore Medical Center, where Sutton, 22, died a little after 3:30 p.m.
