"A man accused of shooting up a West Philadelphia 
bar with an AK-47 turned himself in to police 
Saturday.

NBCPhiladelphia was there when Richard Jones, 26, 
surrendered to police at their headquarters at 8th 
and Race Streets around 1p.m. The suspect's family 
contacted NBCPhiladelphia to say Jones wanted to 
turn himself into authorities. NBCPhiladelphia 
contacted police so they could arrange his 
surrender.

"He turned himself in, he knows what he did was 
wrong. I just fear for the safety of my child," 
Richard Height, the suspect's father said.

Investigators say Jones drove up to a bar on 
Westminster and Belmont Avenue Tuesday night. He 
got out of the car carrying an AK-47. Police say 
when Jones reached the door and could not enter 
the bar he began shooting. No one was injured in

Days after a high-speed police chase and deadly shootout, authorities in Georgia have released dashcam footage showing what led to a suspect being killed. Three law enforcement officers were injured and a gunman killed after a chase in Carroll County. As they drive up to the injured officer's car, Pier Shelton, 28, meets them and fires an AK-47 into the vehicle. One deputy was shot in the arm. "Philadelphia police are looking for the man they 
say drove up to a West Philadelphia bar on Tuesday 
and began shooting.

Southwest Detectives say Richard Jones, 26, drove 
up to the bar on Westminster and Belmont, jumped 
out of his vehicle and went to the door, AK-47 in 
hand. When he couldn’t get the door open, he began 
shooting.

When he finished, he ran to catch his car, which 
had rolled down the street.

"I guess you chalk it up to, he's not the 
brightest of criminals," Captain Ben Naish tells 
NBC Philadelphia.

As Jones chased his moving vehicle, he fired one 
shot at police. He missed.

From there, the suspect walked into a woman's home 
in Manayunk and terrorized her before heading to 
Lafayette Hills where his car broke down. 

Police tell NBC Philadelphia that Jones got out of 
his car and tossed the AK-47 in a resident's
