He reopened the case into the death of Kendrick Johnson after federal investigators gave him documents requested in the case from two years ago. HOUSTON â€“ A driver is arrested and a woman is severely hurt after police say he was caught speeding through Third Ward, then crashed into her convertible and toppled several vehicles late Friday night.

Lt. R. Willkens with Houston Police said officers saw a man in a white-colored Dodge Ram speeding through several streets. As officers attempted to pull him over near the intersection of Wheeler Avenue and Emancipation, Willkens said the driver reportedly sped away, hitting a convertible and several other vehicles.

The impact of the crash launched his truck on top of four parked vehicles next to a pharmacy building, according to Willkens. No one was inside any of the parked vehicles.

A woman inside the convertible suffered major injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Willkens said she is expected to be okay.

The driver was treated for minor injuries and was taken into custody.

HIV activist Hydeia Broadbent died from natural causes on Feb. 20 at age 39. Broadbent was born crack-addicted with undiagnosed HIV in Las Vegas. She was adopted at 10 months old and diagnosed with HIV at age three. Doctors told her adoptive parents she wouldn’t live past age 5. By age 5, Broadbent was diagnosed with full-blown AIDS. But she lived to become the youngest HIV activist and public speaker at age 6. She appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and other national talk shows. Daniel Lowe, a 36-year-old father of two & double amputee, was shot dead in Huntington Park. Officers were seen firing at least eight shots at him.
