Authorities today were looking for suspects who stole a dozen French bulldog puppies from a Gardena pet shop that the owner said were worth more than $100,000. 

The crime occurred about 1 a.m. Tuesday at the Top Dog Pet Store in the 2500 block of Rosecrans Avenue, the store's owner told KTLA5. 

Security video shows four masked men breaking into the business. The burglars were seen arriving at the shop in a large white Chevy van. Details of the crime were not immediately released by Gardena police, who said only that the theft was under investigation. 

"They ran to where the dogs were, grabbed the cages, dragged them out and tossed them into the van," Andres Avalos, the shop's owner, told KTLA. "They came in through the front door, kicked the door open, turned the light on, grabbed the dogs, and took off."

Avalos said the suspects escaped with 12 French bulldogs, including a 10-month-old show dog named "Roll X." 

"It's a big financial loss," Avalos said. "The dogs were (worth) over $100,000. We use those dogs for breeding purposes and that's how we make a living. With the dogs being gone, it'll be tougher to get by now." 

As the dogs were moved outside, some of the suspects were seen quickly grabbing the small puppies and throwing them into the back of the van. The entire heist lasted only minutes, Avalos said. One suspect also broke into the shop's cash register and escaped with around $2,000 in cash.

KTLA reported that Avalos is offering a substantial monetary reward for anyone who can help track down the missing dogs and the thieves who took them. Posted by JR

Boston Dynamics, the company known for its robotic dogs, now has a humanoid robot capable of doing gymnastics.

The robotics company previously has shown how its robot dogs can go down stairs and open doors. Some police departments have begun using the robot dogs, typically called Spot, to help patrol. And Atlas, which the company dubbed "the world's most dynamic humanoid," showed in an earlier video how the robot can jog and jump over a log.

A Florida mail carrier died Monday after being brutally mauled by five dogs after her truck broke down in a rural area the day before, authorities say. Jane Rock, 61, was screaming for help as the pack ambushed her, calling the attention of neighbors who arrived too late to stop the mauling, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. 

Rockâ€™s niece said she had just started the job in December and was excited about it. Now, her family is enraged, questioning how the dogsâ€™ owners could be so negligent. â€œThey did not just attack her, they were ripping her apart,â€� Rockâ€™s niece, Kaydee Richley stated. 

Neighbors tried to free Rock from the dogsâ€™ grip but were unsuccessful, even after someone fired a rifle into the ground, cops said. "William Banks, a 27-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, was arrested on December 30, 2023, in Westport, Connecticut, for allegedly stealing five pro-Israel yard signs in the Colony Road neighborhood. During the investigation, a Westport police officer observed Banks taking another sign while conversing with a homeowner; Banks then fled the scene in a white vehicle. He was charged with sixth-degree larceny and turned himself in to police on February 27, 2024. Banks posted a $500 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on March 19, 2024.
