William Melendez was sentenced Tuesday morning for his involvement in a police brutality case that happened last year. The former Inkster police officer was convicted of assaulting Floyd Dent during a traffic stop last year. He was given a sentence of no less than 13 months to no more than 10 years in prison. Judge Vonda also spoke before the sentencing, saying Melendez and his officer were playing a "game" when they decided to pull over Dent. William Melendez, 47, was caught on police dashboard camera in the January 2015 assault against driver Floyd Dent, who was hit 16 times and testified that he was choked so hard he passed out.
