A young man identified by family as Deleon Alonso Smith was supposed to start community college this week but instead, will be laid to rest sometime soon. The 19-year-old died from a gunshot to the upper body after a gun went off while he was reportedly taking selfies.
According to NBC affiliate KPRC, Smith and a cousin found the gun earlier that day. The cousin was present in the Houston, TX house at the time of the accidental shooting but not in the room with him. Smith leaves behind two small children and a very stunned family. "It's the worst feeling in my life," Eric Douglas, Smith’s uncle, told reporters.
