The White House on Friday said a US fighter jet had shot down an as yet unidentified high-altitude object over state of Alaska. It was the second time in a week that jets were scrambled to down foreign objects in US airspace.
 
The object was flying at an altitude of 40,000 feet (12,200 meters) and is reported to have come down in US waters just off the far northeastern coast of Alaska, near the Canadian border. Posted By Ghost

Thousands of dollars gone in seconds after two ATMs were broken into in Shelbyville. 
 
Shelbyville police said that on Saturday, Oct. 9, just after 5 a.m., a machine belonging to Commonwealth Credit Union on Boone Station Road was busted open. 
 
According to police, two masked men pulled up in a stolen truck. Then, using tow straps and hooks, they pulled the ATM machine open and started grabbing cash. Police said after that, they ditched the truck and left. 
 
Sgt. Kelly Cable said detectives assume the culprits got away in a getaway car. 
 
Days later, a repeat crime -- that was caught on video shown in the player above -- happened in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 12. Police said it was 1:30 a.m. and a Commonwealth Bank ATM was broken into on Mt. Eden Road -- the same way. 
 
According to police, the first machine was holding about $80,000. It's unclear how much was in the other. 
 
Since the crimes are so similar, police believe they are connected, but are still investigating. Posted by JR

U.S. European Command has released dramatic declassified video taken by the MQ-9 Reaper drone that shows the moment that a Russian Su-27 fighter jet collided with it after attempting to spray the drone with jet fuel.
 
The video was taken from a camera on the droneâ€™s underside and shows two different passes taken by the jets to spray the drone, the second one being the collision with the propeller at the rear of the drone, which is visible in the footage.
 
Communications were lost with the drone as the image can be seen pixelating into color bars.
 
EUCOM also confirmed that communications with the drone were down for a minute and that the released video was edited for time.
 
When the video feed resumed one of the propeller blades can be seen damaged from the collision with the Russian fighter. Posted By Ghost

Both pilots managed to eject from the plane seconds before it crashed. One pilot was found badly burned, tangled in the powerlines with his parachute. The other pilot was found in a nearby neighborhood, police said at the time.
