"An 18-year-old woman who was shot by a school safety officer near Millikan High School in Long Beach is brain dead, her family said at a Wednesday news conference.
 
The family identified the woman as Mona Rodriguez, the mother of a 5-month-old baby. Rodriguez is on life support, and is not expected to survive, according to her family. She was not a student at the school.

â€œI just want justice for my girl, my baby mama, my love of my life that I canâ€™t get back ever again,â€� her boyfriend Rafeul Chowdhury said tearfully. â€œI donâ€™t know what to do with my 5-month-old son.â€�
 
Rodriguez was shot in the head by a Long Beach Unified School District public safety officer, after intervening in a fight between her and a 15-year-old girl outside the campus. The officer, who was not identified, has been placed on paid leave as Long Beach Police Department investigates what happened." - CBS LA

"A Wisconsin man is in custody after allegedly throwing an 8-month-old baby boy against a wall in a Milwaukee home because he was losing a basketball-themed video game.

Jalin A. White, who according to court records is 20 years old, is facing charges of child abuse with great bodily harm and child neglect. He’s at the Milwaukee County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Prosecutors described the alleged abuse during White’s first appearance in front of Milwaukee County Court Commissioner Andrea Bolender.

“Your statement (was) he hit the wall hard. You heard the bang of the wall,” Bolender told White, according to a courtroom report from local ABC affiliate WISN.

The child is at the hospital but is not expected to survive, authorities say. According to a criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime, the incident happened Tuesday at White’s home in the 7000 block of 42nd Street near Good Hope Road in north Milwaukee. White and the boy’s mother rent a room in the home owned by her parents, police said. She went to work and left the boy in the care of White, who is unemployed and takes care of him full time.

The boy, identified in the complaint as JW, was in good health when his mother came home from work that day, but she allegedly went out again to buy some marijuana, detectives wrote. White was watching the child while playing video games. When the mother got back, she found the boy in his playpen “making noises,” the affidavit said. He was barely breathing and his right arm was “twitching,” the complaint said. The mother picked him up with White allegedly “angrily” asking where she was going and to give him the baby, she later told detectives. That’s what happened to 27-year-old wannabe influencer Charles Smith, aka “WolfieParty.” On Dec. 19, Smith posted a video of himself taking a can of Hot Shot Ultra Bed Bug and Flea Killer off the shelf of the Stapley Drive Walmart in Mesa and dousing fruit, vegetables and rotisserie chickens with the pesticide. Now, after turning himself in to Mesa police, he faces criminal charges over the stunt.

Mesa Police Detective Richard Encinas told Phoenix New Times that Smith was booked into Maricopa County Jail around 12:30 a.m. on one felony count of "introducing poison" to food. Smith also faces misdemeanor charges for theft, endangerment and criminal damage. Encinas could not say if Smith had been arraigned or granted bail.

According to police, Smith turned himself in after they phoned him about the video, which no longer appears on Smith's 'WolfieParty' Instagram account, which has 368,000 followers. It has since been posted to Reddit. Indianapolis mother walks free after admitting to smothering her 2-month-old baby to death between two couch cushions while high on meth.

Judge Mark Stoner found Dacia Lacey not guilty of neglect resulting in death.

Lacey confessed that she wanted her daughter to stop crying and just be quiet so she could get some sleep.

The mother, who was high on meth, smothered her daughter in the couch cushions.

Judge Stoner said that prosecutors didn’t do enough to prove she intentionally harmed her baby.

Lacey was facing 20 to 40 years in prison.
