"- The South Fulton City Council has voted to conduct an audit of Mayor Khalid Kamau’s spending, citing concerns over $26,000 in charges made at the end of last year. The decision, made during a contentious meeting Monday night, has sparked intense debate among city leaders.




Mayor Khalid expressed frustration over the situation, saying he was distressed and disappointed that they were tearing each other down, especially right before the beginning of Black History Month.

Council members, however, pointed to the unaccounted expenses, which reportedly include a trip to Africa. While the city currently lacks specific policies on international travel, officials emphasized that city funds cannot be used for personal expenses.


The audit aims to clarify whether the spending violated city regulations and provide accountability for the charges in question.
