Skip to 3:49 TAMPA, Fla. â€” Hillsborough County Judge Christopher Sabella sentenced admitted killer Steven Lorenzo to death by lethal injection for two murders he committed in 2003.
 
Last December, Lorenzo pleaded guilty to drugging, torturing, raping, murdering, and dismembering Jason Galehouse and Michael Wachholtz.
 
Previously in the sentencing trial, Lorenzo asked the judge for the death penalty.
 
"I'm 64 years old. I could be on death row for 10, 15 years. The comforts that they get on the death row are a lot more comfortable than it is in the federal system. You get your own private cell, you get your own tv, you get your own computer, you get all this stuff," Lorenzo said.
 
Lorenzo stopped the judge before he announced the sentence to make a last minute statement.
 
"I'm seeking the death penalty. It's in my best interest basically, because it's a comfort. I'll be living my life more comfortable than it would in the federal system. Living on death row, believe it or not, and and of course, that may sound selfish, but I've lived in a private cell for the last five years and I'm going to have a private cell on death row," he said.
 
Lorenzo also talked about reincarnation multiple times. The mention was in reference to the prosecutor's work on the trial.
 
"You did a very good job of prosecuting this case. So I want to thank you for that. Because I appreciate your fairness to me. And that's what I appreciate. In this lifetime, I'm a bad guy. You're the good guy. Maybe the next lifetime, this role will be reversed. Who knows?" he said.
 
He later brought up reincarnation again, this time in reference to his desire to speed up his time on Death Row. Posted By Ghost

Bodycam footage shows an Arizona judge failing sobriety tests after being pulled over when a bystander reported her stumbling in a “Safeway” gas station before getting into her car. The video shows Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Cele Hancock initially denying being drunk before confessing to drinking a “couple of glasses of wine” before driving on March 19. " A Tennessee man sentenced to life in prison in the daytime ambush killing of rapper Young Dolph received an additional 35 years behind bars Friday.

Justin Johnson was convicted of first-degree murder on Sept. 26 and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole the same day by Shelby County Judge Jennifer Mitchell. On Friday, she sentenced Johnson for his two other convictions from the trial: conspiracy to commit murder and being a felon in possession of a gun.

Young Dolph, whose real name was Adolph Thornton Jr., was fatally shot in November 2021 at a Memphis bakery. Known for his works of charity in the city where he grew up, the 36-year-old rapper and independent music label owner was in Memphis to hand out Thanksgiving turkeys to families when his visit to his favorite cookie shop turned into an event that shocked the entertainment world.

Prosecutor Paul Hagerman noted during the sentencing hearing that Johnson, a 26-year-old aspiring rapper, had three aggravated assault convictions before the shooting and he had “no hesitation” to commit the murder-for-hire in a public place. Hagerman called it a “stone-cold execution” motivated by money and fame.

In a statement read in court, the rapper's sister said the family feels “anger, anxiety and grief” over the death of Young Dolph, who “created a legacy that will endure long after this tragedy.”

“In a world full of envy, jealousy and arrogance, many fail to realize the impact of their actions until it's too late,” the statement said.

Johnson's lawyer, Luke Evans, said Johnson was manipulated by others to shoot Young Dolph. Evans has requested a new trial for Johnson, arguing that the evidence presented during the trial was not sufficient for a conviction. Judge Robert J. Putorti of Whitehall, NY, who serves as a town and village court judge, has 30 days to respond to a decision to remove him from the bench.
 
The decision comes after The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct's determination on September 9, 2022, recommended he be removed from his position as a judge. Judge Putorti received that recommendation on September 14, 2022.
 
judge Putorti is alleged to have committed several acts of misconduct, including two incidents involving a firearm, One inside the courtroom while Putorti was presiding over a criminal matter, according to the commission's report.
 
According to the same report, the incident inside the courtroom is alleged to have happened in late 2015 or early 2016.
 
Although the incident occurred years ago, Commission Administrator Robert H. Tembeckjian told CBS 6," The seriousness of the conduct required disciplinary action, notwithstanding the passage of time." 
Judge Robert J. Putorti was first appointed in 2014 as an Acting Justice of the Whitehall village court; He was elected as a Justice of that court in 2018. If Putorti does not respond within 30 days from receipt of the determination, He will be removed from office and barred from ever serving as a judge in The State of New York again.
 
If he chooses to appeal, The determination will go to the Court of Appeals for The State of New York. The Court of Appeals will then review the decision and then determine a different sanction, uphold the commission's recommendation or issue no sanction at all. Both Judge Robert J. Sidney Newsome, 27, was in Pike County Justice Court last month on a domestic violence charge when he began throwing things at Judge Aubrey Rimes, according to NBC affiliate WLBT. Newsome appeared to get loose from a bailiff who seemed to be walking him out of court, according to the footage.
 
Though his hands were in restraints, Newsome got a stack of papers and flung them at Rimes, then grabbed a telephone and threw that as well. Rimes left his place behind the bench and helped restrain Newsome.
