A brave dad has gone head to head with a bronze whaler shark, wrestling it in the water, as stunned onlookers watched on in disbelief. Tristan Turner was fishing with his two sons off the jetty in Kangaroo Island, South Australia, where they live when they accidentally hooked the massive shark, prompting the daring dad to jump into action.
 
While the shark, said to be up to three metres long, was eventually released back into the ocean safely, Turner first had to remove the hook from its mouth – and what followed amazed spectators. Video capturing the incident shows the shirtless dad splashing around in knee-deep water, wrangling the restless shark and holding it by its tail as the animal attempts to free itself from the man's grip.

" A Middle Township Elementary School teacher in South Jersey is facing charges after she allegedly had a child with a student she's accused of sexually assaulting inside her home several years ago.
Laura Caron, 34, of Cape May Court House, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The alleged crimes happened between 2016 and 2020 at the suspect's home in Cape May Court House. Authorities say the victim was 13 years old and living with then-28-year-old Caron when their child was born in 2019. Laura Caron, 34, of Cape May Court House, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The case was brought to light when the victim's father made a social media post in December 2024 saying Caron's 5-year-old child looked very similar to him and his son, according to investigators.
Authorities say Caron taught the victim and his brother in the 5th grade.
Over the years, the parents of the victim said the family became friends with Caron, which ultimately led to them even allowing their boys and daughter to stay at Caron's home at times. The visits began one to two nights a week, but the children stayed with Caron permanently from 2016 to 2020, authorities revealed in court documents.
During her first appearance hearing, the judge identified Caron as a "resource family parent" for the children.
The victim's sister, who stayed at Caron's home at one point, allegedly told police she thought her brother was about 11 years old when he started sleeping with his teacher in the same bed. According to the criminal complaint, the sister revealed the children would sleep in a shared room on the second floor, but noticed her brother would be in Caron's bed the next morning. Shelley Sykes, a 62-year-old Australian mother living in Malibu, shared the devastating story of how she lost her disabled son, Rory Sykes, in the recent Los Angeles fires. Shelley and Rory lived on a 17-acre estate, with Rory, 32, residing in a cottage at the back of the property. Rory, who was blind and had cerebral palsy, depended heavily on Shelley for care. When the fires erupted, Shelley was inside the main property trying to protect herself and her pet peacocks. However, she soon noticed embers falling on Rory’s cottage, igniting a desperate fight to save her son.

Shelley attempted to put out the flames with a hose, only to discover it wasn’t producing water. Phone lines were down, preventing her from calling for help. Despite her efforts to move Rory to safety, an injured arm left her unable to lift him. In a moment of unimaginable heartbreak, Rory urged her to save herself, saying, “Leave me.” Overwhelmed by the situation, Shelley eventually fled with her peacocks to find assistance at a local fire station. Tragically, by the time firefighters returned to the property, Rory’s cottage had been reduced to rubble, and officials have yet to recover his remains.

Shelley described Rory as selfless and deeply considerate, even in his final moments. “He was my baby. No mommy leaves her kid when they’re special,” she tearfully told reporters.
