51-Year-Old School Aide Faces Deportation After Getting Caught On Camera Dragging Autistic Teen By His Privates

In a deeply troubling case, Garnet Collins, a 51-year-old school aide at the Anderson Center for Autism in Staatsburg, New York, has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of an incompetent person. This plea comes after a disturbing incident where Collins was caught on video dragging a 19-year-old autistic student by his genitals, causing the teen to scream in agony.


The incident, recorded by a fellow aide, also revealed Collins hitting another autistic student with a laptop, resulting in visible bruising. While Collins admitted to both actions, the latter charge was dropped as part of a plea deal. He now faces a sentence of one to three years in prison and potential deportation, given his status as a permanent resident but not a U.S. citizen.
