LSU Cleared Him To Play… Turns Out He Had A BRAIN TUMOR! Former Football Star Greg Brooks Jr. Sues School & Hospital For Negligence!
In August 2024, former LSU football player Greg Brooks Jr. filed a lawsuit against Louisiana State University (LSU) and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, alleging negligence in diagnosing and treating his brain tumor. Brooks began experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, and nausea during practice in August 2023. After passing out during a session, an athletic trainer reportedly cleared him to return, attributing his condition to vertigo. It wasn't until September 2023 that a neurologist diagnosed him with a brain tumor, leading to emergency surgery.
The lawsuit claims that the surgeon who performed the operation was not qualified, resulting in multiple strokes during the procedure. Consequently, Brooks had to relearn basic skills such as eating, writing, and speaking, and continues to use a wheelchair. He and his family assert that the aftermath of the surgery, rather than the cancer itself, has been the primary challenge.
Brooks and his father have expressed disappointment with LSU's response, stating that they were not adequately informed about his condition and were not presented with alternative treatment options. They also noted a lack of communication from the coaching staff since late 2023. Through this lawsuit, Brooks aims to raise awareness among young athletes about the importance of seeking second medical opinions and advocating for their health. | Posted by Thrillz
