"An 18-year-old woman who was shot by a school safety officer near Millikan High School in Long Beach is brain dead, her family said at a Wednesday news conference.
 
The family identified the woman as Mona Rodriguez, the mother of a 5-month-old baby. Rodriguez is on life support, and is not expected to survive, according to her family. She was not a student at the school.

â€œI just want justice for my girl, my baby mama, my love of my life that I canâ€™t get back ever again,â€� her boyfriend Rafeul Chowdhury said tearfully. â€œI donâ€™t know what to do with my 5-month-old son.â€�
 
Rodriguez was shot in the head by a Long Beach Unified School District public safety officer, after intervening in a fight between her and a 15-year-old girl outside the campus. The officer, who was not identified, has been placed on paid leave as Long Beach Police Department investigates what happened." - CBS LA

Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said the beach umbrella was carried by a gust of wind on Garden City beach. Heuermann is charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the killings of Melissa Barthelemy in 2009, and Megan Waterman and Amber Costello the following year, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney. The alleged killer had been living a double life in a Long Island village a short drive from where their remains were found, prosecutors said. Heuermann, who told his attorney he’s not the killer, is also the prime suspect in the 2007 disappearance and death of a fourth woman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, according to a bail application from Suffolk County prosecutors.
