China Reportedly Creates New Coronavirus With 100 Percent Kill Rate In Mice... Wuhan Virus 2.0!?

"The World Health Organization confirmed an outbreak of the deadly Marburg virus in Equatorial Guinea this week.

The viral fever is confirmed to have killed at least one person in the country and is linked to another eight deaths, according to the organization. In addition to the nine deaths, there are another 16 suspected cases in the country, with patients exhibiting symptoms that include fever, fatigue, and blood-stained vomit and diarrhea.

The virus' presence in the country's eastern Kie Ntem Province marks the first outbreak of the disease in Equatorial Guinea. It comes approximately six months after an outbreak of cases was reported in Ghana in July 2022.

Marburg virus is rare among people but it is highly infectious once it finds a human host, and the disease can be fatal, with an average fatality rate of around 50%, according to the WHO. During a 2005 outbreak of the virus in Angola, the death rate among Marburg patients was as high as 88%, the agency said.

A 66 to 72-million-year-old dinosaur embryo has been discovered inside a fossilized egg that scientists describe as one of the best-preserved specimens of its kind ever found.

The embryo, dubbed â€œBaby Yingliang,â€� was discovered in Ganzhou in southern China. It belongs to a toothless theropod dinosaur, or oviratorosaur.

Scientists from the University of Birmingham in the U.K. and the China University of Geosciences in Beijing observed the embryo in a "tucking" position, which was previously thought to be the pre-hatching behaviour of birds.

"This behaviour has long been thought unique to birds but now we see evidence in our fossil that even in non-bird dinosaurs they might have the same type of pre-hatching behaviour," said Fion Waisum Ma, a joint lead author of the study from Birmingham University. Posted by PSmooth

Just two weeks ago, the New York Health Department reported the nation's first case of polio in almost a decade, in Rockland County, north of New York City. Officials said that case occurred in a previously healthy young adult who was unvaccinated and developed paralysis in their legs. Since then, three positive wastewater samples from Rockland County and four from neighboring Orange County were discovered and genetically linked to the first case, the health department said in a press release on Thursday, suggesting that the polio virus is being spread within local communities. A newfound variant of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, has been uncovered in the Netherlands and appears to cause faster disease progression compared with other versions of the virus.

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infects and destroys immune cells called CD4 cells in the body, causing the number of these cells to plummet. If left untreated, the infection then progresses to AIDS. In people infected with the newfound HIV variant, called the VB variant, the CD4 counts fall at about twice the rate as those of people infected with closely related HIV strains, meaning those of the same genetic subtype (B).   

Without treatment, infections with the VB variant would likely progress to AIDS, on average, within two to three years of a person's initial HIV diagnosis, researchers reported Thursday (Feb. 3) in the journal Science.
