"Dilapidated hulls dot the black sands on the western coast of the island now known in Japan as IÅ� TÅ�. The island, whose former Iwo Jima name translates to Sulphur Island, was stormed by U.S. Marines on February 19, 1945, notes the National WWII Museum. The battle lasted 36 days, with 70,000 Marines and 18,000 Japanese soldiers taking part. Nearly 7,000 Marines were killed and 20,000 wounded in one of the bloodiest battles the Marines have ever taken part in.
 
The ships are circulating on social media, with some believing the ships to be artifacts from the battle; others calling them sunken battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy. But the United States Air Force Kadena Air Base in Kadena, Japan offers a different explanation."

Tiara Simmons, 39, is a lawyer in Long Beach, California and earns roughly $26,000 a year between her job as a law clerk and her social media marketing side hustle. She lives in a one-bedroom apartment with her husband, 3-year-old and chihuahua. Simmons is a below-the-knee amputee and has been disabled for nearly her entire life, and she wants people to know that those with disabilities are "disabled, not lazy."

Former Marine Indicted In New York Subway Death Of Jordan Neely!

Before they train Marine Corps recruits at boot camp, drill instructors must graduate from Drill Instructor School. Insider spent three days at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina, with a class of students during week six of their nine-week training (shortened from 11 weeks because of COVID-19 safety restrictions).

Drill Instructor School has evolved over the past few years after widespread reports of abusive behavior by drill instructors during boot camp. One tactic to confront these issues is discussing case studies with new students related to former instructors found guilty of mistreating recruits.

Students also prepare to work with recruits by engaging in realistic scenarios where some students play the role of drill instructor, and others of recruits. Their curriculum ranges from executing drill formations to administering proper hygiene in the squad bays. On August 5, 2017, a United States Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, took off from the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard and headed for the USS Green Bay as part of an exercise when, with almost no warning, everything went sideways. The Osprey struck the USS Green Bay and crashed in Shoalwater Bay on the east coast of Australia. Although a heroic effort resulted in the rescue of twenty-three personnel, there had been twenty-six aboard the accident aircraft. By the end of joint-US and Australian Navy recovery operations, three marines were confirmed dead.
