GRAND RAPIDS, MI â€“ Grand Rapids police have released videos of the fatal police shooting of 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya, including one that shows the fatal shot.
 
During a press conference at city hall Wednesday afternoon, April 13, police Chief Eric Winstrom released videos from four different sources of the April 4 fatal police shooting of Lyoya.
 
Cellphone video taken by a passenger in Lyoyaâ€™s car provides the clearest footage of the fatal shooting. The fatal shot, which is graphic, is captured near the 32-second mark. Viewer discretion is strongly advised as it does show the loss of human life.
 
Winstrom has said the videos, including the one shot by the bystander, are unedited, except for some blurring of images for privacy reasons.
 
Lyoya was driving on Grand Rapidsâ€™ Southeast Side when he was stopped by an officer. Winstrom said the officer observed the vehicle had â€œimproper Michigan registration.â€�
 
Lyoya exited his car and eventually struggled with the officer. The pair struggled for a little over two minutes before the officer shot Lyoya.
 
In the video, the officer can be heard yelling for Lyoya to let go of his Taser. Winstrom said the officer deployed his Taser during the struggle. It was not immediately clear if Lyoya was hit by it.
 
The officer is on top of Lyoya when he fires his handgun. Winstrom said Lyoya was shot in the head.
 
Winstrom said that, to his knowledge, the only weapons recovered from the scene were the officerâ€™s gun and Taser.
 
For more than a week, numerous community members and organizations have called for police to release any and all footage surrounding the shooting so they could see what had happened. Posted By Ghost

A township police officer is facing criminal charges after punching a suspect who was already handcuffed and in the back seat of a police car. Prosecutors say the cop also tried to cover up the incident.

Todd Ritter, 54, of Millstone, was charged last week with third-degree tampering with public records, fourth-degree falsifying and tampering with records, and a disorderly persons offense of assault.

Ritter was suspended without pay from his $122,000 job pending the resolution of the criminal case. He has almost 22 years of service.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office released few details about the incident but, in response to an Open Public Records Act request by New Jersey 101.5, released a copy of a video recorded by a camera in the police officer's car.

In the two-minute video, dated Feb. 12, the suspect is seen handcuffed in the backseat of the car telling police on the scene that he had been beaten by an officer even though he had not resisted. Posted By PSmooth

 Police have released body cam footage from an incident at a Midvale McDonaldâ€™s where a 4-year-old shot a gun while in the back seat of a car. Johnson had two children in the car at the time, a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old. Officers issued several commands for Johnson to get out of the car, but he was non-compliant. Police then opened Johnsonâ€™s front driverâ€™s door, pulling him out. As officers were trying to take Johnson into custody, an officer who turned around saw a gun pointing out of the back window screaming â€œgun,â€� moments before the 4-year-old fired at officers.
