Randy Cox, a man from Connecticut, has recently reached a $45 million settlement with the city of New Haven after being paralyzed in a police van. Cox was arrested in June 2022, and was placed in a police transport vehicle without a seat belt. During the ride, he suffered a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. The incident occurred when the police van driver suddenly slammed on the brakes, causing Cox to be thrown forward and hit his head on a metal plate that was bolted to the floor.

The settlement is one of the largest ever paid by the city of New Haven and is meant to compensate Cox for the harm that he has suffered as a result of the incident. Coxâ€™s lawyer, David Rosen, stated that the settlement was reached after years of litigation and negotiations with the city. "TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A shooting at a Tampa Holiday Inn killed at least one person and injured three others early Sunday morning, according to police.

Tampa police said the shooting took place in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn at the intersection of Fowler Avenue and McKinley Drive. “What we have learned, and this is early in the investigation, two cars were shot at,” said Joneé Lewis, public information officer of the Tampa Police Department.

Lewis said one person was killed at the scene while three other gunshot victims were taken to local hospitals. Investigators said they believe the victims were at the hotel trying to get a room at the time of the shooting.  Although police have not released the identity of any of the victims, the girlfriend of Florida rapper Julio Foolio, whose real name is Charles Jones, said he died after celebrating his birthday in Tampa. The rapper’s Instagram story showed that he was celebrating his birthday with a pool party at a Tampa AirBnB before police made him relocate.
