Woman Who Falsely Accused Stranger Of Rape And Kidnapping Gets Just 23 Months In Jail… After Ruining His Life

Anjela Borisova Urumova, a 20-year-old from Bristol Township, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 45 days to 23 months in the Bucks County Correctional Facility for falsely accusing a man of attempted rape and kidnapping. Her fabricated claims led to the wrongful incarceration of Daniel Pierson, who spent 31 days in jail before the truth emerged. In addition to her jail term, Urumova received one year of probation, was ordered to pay $3,600 in restitution to Pierson, and must undergo a mental health evaluation. She is also prohibited from contacting Pierson or his family

The incident began when Urumova reported to Middletown Township police that she had been attacked in the parking lot of Redner’s supermarket. She identified Pierson as her assailant, leading to his arrest on multiple felony charges. However, subsequent investigations, including surveillance footage reviews and analysis of Urumova's cellphone data, revealed inconsistencies in her account. Confronted with this evidence, Urumova admitted to fabricating the entire incident.

District Attorney Jennifer Schorn emphasized the broader implications of such false reports, stating that they can erode community trust in the justice system and potentially jeopardize legitimate prosecutions of sexual violence cases. Chief Deputy District Attorney Kristin M. McElroy highlighted the profound personal impact on Pierson and his family, noting that he unjustly spent over a month in jail due to Urumova's false allegations.
