"An 11-month-old baby is in critical condition at
Riley Hospital for Children Friday night after
police said the man watching her threw her into
her crib last week.
Lamar Phillips, 19, is charged with battery
causing serious bodily injury and neglect of a
dependent.
According to the probable cause affidavit,
Phillips was watching 11-month-old Ciarra Lewis
while his girlfriend was out shopping. Phillips
reportedly told police the baby was interrupting
him while he was playing video games so he threw
her into a playpen, causing Ciarra to hit her head
on the wall.
“The child was fussing and crying and irritated
him because it was interrupting his game as he was
playing a military game on the TV and couldn’t
concentrate on the video game,” read the probable
cause. "
